Michelin’s Map & Guide book series is pocket-sized with a library of destination information for Barcelona, London, New York, Paris, Rome and Venice
In time for avid travelers and their springtime ventures here and abroad, Michelin is publishing an all-new series of travel books that are designed to help people quickly pinpoint their locations at their destination cities and discover the best attractions in the vicinity.
Michelin’s Map & Guide series are concise pocket-size guides that pack a lot of information into 25 pages. The book is organized by neighborhoods, with each represented by a single-fold atlas-quality map that is indexed to orientate travelers to their immediate surroundings and what they can enjoy nearby.
“This is a very practical, no-nonsense travel guide,” said Cynthia Ochterbeck, editorial director of Michelin Travel Partner. “The maps are designed to be very easy to read so that you can easily orient yourself in new surroundings and find out what there is to experience around the corner.”
The Map & Guide books offer “must-see” attractions, Michelin travel editors’ favorites, notable restaurants, cafes and bars, shopping and nightlife. They even suggest places just to take a short break.
“As you find in all Michelin travel guides, this new publication includes the advice of very experienced Michelin travel editors who list their curated selections on the best sites and attractions,” Ochterbeck said.
The new Map & Guide books, on sale now at major booksellers for a suggested retail price of $9.95, include the initial cities of Barcelona, London, New York, Paris, Rome and Venice.
Michelin has done as much to enhance mobility as any company in the world. Michelin patented the pneumatic or air-filled tire, in the late 1800s. This was a milestone moment in mobility, permitting automobile owners to travel at great length in a single journey. Then, in an effort to prompt travelers to enjoy their newfound mobility, the company created travel guides and detailed maps to steer early motorists on their way.
Dedicated to the improvement of sustainable mobility, Michelin designs, manufactures and sells tires for every type of vehicle, including airplanes, automobiles, bicycles, Earthmovers, farm equipment, heavy-duty trucks and motorcycles. The Company also publishes travel guides, hotel and restaurant guides, maps and road atlases. Headquartered in Greenville, S.C., Michelin North America (www.michelinman.com) employs more than 22,650 people and operates 19 major manufacturing plants in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
